Edmond Philogène

Portrait of Edmond Philogène.

Edmond Philogene is a Social Worker who was born and grew up in Haiti. While he was studying, he was always involved in community intervention led by the government and international agencies to support initiatives for peace and development in main cities affected by violence and in the capital. He started his career by providing psychosocial support to children living in camps in a post-earthquake context followed by managing many camp transition projects that allowed poor families living in camps for years to get home and start their own businesses.

He dedicated a long period of his career to inclusive education initiatives at a national level in Haiti by developing and managing, in collaboration with key actors in the government and civil society, programs to increase disabled children’s access to school, advocating for their rights and serving as a child safeguarding focal point. He has a global comprehension of advocating for the rights of vulnerable people and access to services as he was a member of many communities of practice in the Latin-American region and Africa. He continues to serve as child safeguarding consultant for local organizations in Haiti.
