Portrait of Regina Murillo Manzanarez.

Regina is from El Salvador, specifically a little town named Ciudad Arce in La Libertad. She studied at the University of El Salvador with the goal of becoming a lawyer. Regina came to the United States in 2001, traveling alone to live with her sister. She initially settled in Los Angeles, California, before moving to Bloomington, Illinois, in 2010 with her husband and three children.

Previously, Regina worked for Unit 5 as an Administrative Assistant at Cedar Ridge Elementary School. In December 2021, she joined the Immigration Project as a Paralegal.

When she first arrived in the USA in 2001, Regina’s initial job was at a restaurant inside LAX airport, where she started as a regular employee and was quickly promoted to supervisor a year later. In September 2010, she moved to Bloomington, IL, with her husband and two children, and her third child was born in Illinois in December of that year. After her third child turned eight months old, she began working at McDonald’s, Afni, and Unit 5 as an Administrative Assistant.

In December 2021, Regina resigned from her position at Unit 5 to work full-time as a paralegal at the Immigration Project. In April 2024, she became a Department of Justice Accredited Representative. Regina is very happy to be part of the Immigration Project because it allows her to assist people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. She understands the struggles of being an immigrant in the USA and the challenges of finding kind and honest people to guide them through the immigration process. Regina feels thankful to be a part of TIP.
