Sara joined the Immigration Project as a legal intern under COVID-19 pandemic in Summer 2020. During her Master of Laws program at the University of Illinois-College of Law, she was part of the Immigration Clinic and Immigration Law Clinic. In April, 2021 Sara became a staff member. 

Sara was born and raised in Colombia, and is also a licensed attorney in Colombia. She has a master in employment law, and five years of experience in labor and employment law in Colombia where she used to litigate at trial Court.

As a staff attorney with the Immigration Project, Sara is working with unaccompanied minors who are detained, advocating for their rights under detention. Sara is fluent in Spanish.
